New Cars Engine Options For Toyota Coming Soon

Posted in Toyota Cars

coming soon signNew cars from Toyota are exciting for many great reasons.  This year, the talk of the Toyota dealer town involves a specific part of their new cars…a rather important part, as a matter of fact.  Your West County Toyota Cars dealer in St. Louis is excited to announce 14 new engines being released into the new car market over the course of the next 2 years.  These 14 engines are being derived from “two new powerplants that boost fuel economy by 10 percent and will underpin 14 new engine variants to be introduced globally through next year”, says a recent article found in Auto News.

Once these fourteen new car engines come to life for Toyota over the next year or so, they will include new technology at your local Ackerman Toyota that dealers have never before seen.  “The 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder and 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder gasoline engines achieve improved thermal efficiency through adapting a rapid combustion process, high compression ratio and an Atkinson burning cycle, which until now has been reserved for Toyota’s hybrid vehicles.”  The same technology mentioned here will also be used in the premium and hybrid lineups of new cars in the Toyota lineup at your Toyota Cars West County dealerships in Missouri.  The same advancements described above will also be put to use in existing Toyota cars engines that use direct injection and turbocharging functions.  To those of you asking how widespread these new engines will be, the answer from the same article sited above is as follows, “When the 14 new engines come to market over the next two years, they will cover about 30 percent of Toyota’s global nameplates.”

Some “firsts” associated with the new cars engine lineup are going to be inevitable.  For example, it will be the very first time that Toyota puts an Atkinson cycle engine in a new car that is not a gasoline electric car.  The Atkinson cycle offers great improvement in fuel economy by leaving the intake valves of the car open for a brief period of time during the engine’s compression stroke.  There are many other points to make about Toyota cars upcoming engines, but only so much room to write here.  For more information check out future posts on the subject, or better yet, visit your Toyota Cars of St Louis at your Ackerman Toyota dealer near West County MO today.

The Toyota Prius is Fourteen Years Old

Posted in Toyota Cars

one of a kindSt Louis Toyota Cars are and have always been so proud of the Toyota Prius in their lineup.  Fourteen years ago, the Toyota Prius entered the scene as new cars on the block, and they have been going strong ever since.  They are unique new cars in many different ways and one baffling ability that these Toyota cars possess involves their uncanny ability to accelerate in very little time.  The question was posed in a recent Toyota cars press release concerning this very subject.  “So, how do you get a 3,000-lb. car that can accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in under 10 seconds to also have a 50-MPG combined fuel economy rating?”  And so the question isn’t just regarding the awesome acceleration, but the ability to hold the best fuel economy in the entire industry while still able to zoom. The answer, according to your St Louis Toyota Car dealership near Alton, lies in something that Toyota calls the “Hybrid Synergy Drive” whereby the output of a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, 4-cylinder engine is combined with precision to an electric motor.  There are many factors that go into making this Toyota Cars system work well in a Prius.  Beginning with the system’s 134 net horsepower that ends up feeling like more simply because of the combo of torque from the gasoline and electric motor all through the use of a planetary CVT, the Toyota cars in the Prius collection start off providing more than expected. Then, for those of us who wish to choose between gasoline or battery operation, the new cars in the Toyota cars lineup of Prius, are true hybrid vehicles with no difficulty providing just that.  “A full hybrid, the Prius can run on the gasoline engine alone, battery alone, or a combination of both.”  There is truly so much to say about the Toyota Prius, that length of article becomes an issue.  Perhaps the best thing to do is come experience one of the new cars in this year’s Toyota Prius lineup in St Louis for yourself.  You will see first hand why America loves these Toyota cars.

Safe Teen Driving and Toyota

Posted in Toyota Cars

Used Toyota CarsDid you know that this is the 11th year that Toyota has offered a free driving skills program? And this isn’t just any program. It is design specifically to help parents steer their teens towards safety. The  TeenDrive365 platform gives families tips and resources for the critical first year of teen driving. This comprehensive program teaches defensive driving skills, crash avoidance techniques and the dangers of distracted driving. And your dealer of Toyota Cars near West County has all the details.

The leading cause of death among teens continues to be motor vehicle crashes. Something that Toyota recognizes is that the parents play a critical role when teens are developing their behind-the-wheel habits. That’s why this program from Toyota is designed to require the parent of guardian to actively participate in the event with the teen. This driving experience is available to pre-drivers and new driver as long as they have a permit of license.

This year’s event calendar look like this:

  • Pearl, Mississippi on Sept. 27 and 28 at Bass Pro Shops

  • Ann Arbor, Michigan on Oct. 4 and 5 at Washtenaw Community College

  • Honolulu, Hawaii on Nov. 8 and 9 at Aloha Stadium

You must register for this event. This can be done at

Michael Rouse, Toyota’s vice president of diversity, philanthropy and community affairs recently said, “Toyota is committed to bringing parents and teens together to better navigate the important first years on the road. Through this year’s three hands-on safe driving programs around the country, coupled with our online TeenDrive365 resources, we hope to make the roads a little safer for everyone.”

The TeenDrive365 goes beyond what is taught in driver ed. We believe that parents and teen will make mutual driving agreements and learn to communicate with more tips even at home.
